There’s some good news and bad news when it comes to crime in Missoula this past week. The good news is that there wasn’t as much as usual. According to Missoula County Attorney Kirsten Pabst, there were just 13 cases, however, the bad news is that most of those incidents were violent crimes, five of which involved partners or family members.

"One was a partner or family member assault third offense," Pabst said. "The victim was the assailants daughter. There was a strangulation that also involved headbutting a domestic partner. There was an aggravated kidnapping where an ex partner was the victim and there was a child involved. There was an assault with a weapon in which the weapon was a gun."

Of course, one of the most high-profile family crimes is the case of Francis Crowley who is accused of assaulting and abandoning an infant in the Lolo National forest, but those weren’t the only cases prosecutors had to handle.

"There was a non family assault with a weapon case that involved a baseball bat assailant," Pabst said. "There was a sexual intercourse without consent complaint filed as well. Moving on to the endangerment crimes, there was one felony DUI case. There was also one forgery case. Although there was one case, there were 14 counts of forgery."

According to Pabst the forgery cases involved a stolen checkbook and a number of purchases that were made in the Seeley Lake area.
