On Wednesday, a Missoula Police Department Officer observed a vehicle fail to yield for a pedestrian that had entered the crosswalk and utilized the flashing pedestrian sign. Police Public Information Officer Lydia Arnold explains.

“An on duty detective in an unmarked car observed driving behavior that was dangerous to all of the vehicles on the road,” Arnold said. “After observing the vehicle fail to yield at a crosswalk with crossing pedestrians, the vehicle swerved in its lane and failed to stop at a stop light. A traffic stop was conducted. Responding officers made contact with the driver, 34-year-old Seth Reeb.”

Another officer arrived to assist with the investigation. The officer spoke to Reeb and noted that his eye lids were droopy and his speech was slow and slurred. Reeb also appeared to have difficulty processing the conversation with the officer.

“During the investigation, officers observed indicators of impairment from Reeb,” Arnold said. “Between the observed driving behavior and the indicators of impairment during the contact with Reeb, Reeb was placed under arrest for a felony DUI, which is a fourth or subsequent offense. Drug use is suspected in this incident. Thankfully, the vehicle was stopped without incident and no person was injured.”

Court documents indicate Reeb has three prior DUI convictions, two pending felony DUI’s in the Fourth Judicial District, and two DUI arrests with unclear dispositions out of California.
