Mike Predicts Who Will Win the Oscars!

If you're a movie geek like me, you're probably watching the Oscars this weekend. Even if I'm not always a fan of the movies being awarded, I love watching the Oscars - it is, after all, a long celebration of movies as a whole. This is basically my Super Bowl.

And I've gotten pretty good over the years at predicting who will win each year, at least in the major categories. Usually by now we have a pretty good idea of what movie will be the frontrunner, but this year things are a little different - I could conceivably see Best Picture going to four different movies - Roma, Black Panther, BlackKklansman, and Green Book. Obviously, only one will win - and I'm thinking it'll be Roma. It'll be the first foreign-language film ever to win Best Picture, and the first Netflix Original Movie too. Roma taking the award would potentially be an industry-changing event, and I'm thinking that's what we'll see on Sunday.

BEST ACTRESS - Glenn Close, The Wife

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR - Mahershala Ali, Green Book

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS - Regina King, If Beale Street Could Talk

BEST DIRECTOR - Spike Lee, BlackKklansman (this is a coin toss - if it's not him, it'll be Alfonso Cuaron for Roma)

BEST DOCUMENTARY - RBG

BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY - The Favourite

BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY - Can You Ever Forgive Me?

BEST ANIMATED FEATURE - Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse

BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM - Roma

BEST FILM EDITING - BlackKklansman
