A Montana White Christmas Is Promising According to Almanac

It's December in Montana, and these days you don't really know what you're going to get as far as the weather is concerned. We have seen a very mild temperatures in October and November across the state. This month we will get to see the start of meteorological winter. The Winter Solstice is Thursday, December 21st. The shortest day of the year. 

Farmer's Almanac Montana Forecast

According to the Old Farmers Almanac's December forecast, Montana is still forecasted to see a colder and wetter winter ahead for the state. One crucial factor that can affect what we actually see is the El Niño weather pattern. According to the Almanac that weather pattern could be held in check by "cooler-than-average ocean temperatures between Baja California and Hawaii." This could be bringing in rain in parts of the country, but the moisture should be snow for most of Montana. 

Snow Will Be Heading Our Way

Towards the middle of the December both regions in Montana are forecasted for snow and colder temperatures.

Will Montana See a White Christmas?

Christmas is also another major travel holiday in Montana in December. For those that are planning on hitting the roads across the state keep this in mind when making your plans. According to the Farmer's Almanac Montana will be seeing a "White Christmas" over both regions that cover our state. According to the forecast:

• High Plains (Eastern Montana)- There will be a white Christmas
• Intermountain West (Western Montana) - There will be a white Christmas

So winter preparation for vehicles may not have been a priority for some. But that can change very soon.
