Looking to do some ice skating in town but Glacier Ice Rink is full? Well, now you've (possibly) got an alternative!

The University of Montana is opening up a brand new ice rink on campus, which should be frozen this week. The thing is, right now it's just for students, who can reserve a spot using their Griz Hub app. But, after the first week of operation, the plan is to reassess and see if they'll be able to open the rink to the public.

There are a few fire pits there that you can reserve ahead of time too, and it's not just free skate - there's a few slots for pick up hockey that you can sign up for if that's what you're looking to do.

After hearing about this and the news that UM is teaming up with The Roxy for monthly movie nights, it's nice to see the university trying to create a fun environment for its students during a time when socializing and going out is probably at an all-time low.

I used to go ice skating every once in a while when I was a kid, and I'm not gonna say I was all that good at it, but I tried to go with my girlfriend last winter - who had never gone before - and... let's just say I may have outskated her by a little bit. I'd definitely want to check out the new rink at UM, so hopefully they decide to open it to the public soon.
