UM Poll Shows Most Montanans Want to Legalize Marijuana

Could Montana join the growing number of states that have legalized recreational use of marijuana?

According to a new poll from the University of Montana, it seems like the majority of Montana citizens think we should be.

Approximately 51% of those polled supported legalization, with the youngest demographic (18-26) the most strongly in favor. It's also interesting to note that political party affiliation makes a big difference - 80% of Democrats polled were in favor compared to just 33% of Republicans.

There are certainly arguments on both sides to be heard - those in favor believe it will help tax revenue in Montana, while those against warn of an increase in marijuana-related emergencies as a result of it.
