Mountain Climbing Doc Directed By Montana Man to Play at the Roxy

This week at the Roxy Theater in Missoula, a new documentary will begin screening that has a cool Montana connection. The movie is called Torn, and it's directed by Max Lowe, a filmmaker from Bozeman who's name you might already know if you're familiar with the world of mountain climbing.

That's because Max is the son of Alex Lowe, a famed mountaineer who died in an avalanche in Tibet back in 1999, when Max was just ten years old. The film documents the events leading up to his father's death, and details the family's long search for his body in the mountains.

The film actually played in Missoula once back in November as part of the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival. At the time, Max Lowe talked to the Missoulian about the thought process behind making the film, and how it brought him closer to understanding the father that left him at such a young age.

Torn begins playing at the Roxy Theater in Missoula this Friday, January 14th, and has showtimes scheduled out every day for at least the next week. If you're interested in getting tickets, you can do so at the Roxy's website.
