Snow Joke Half Marathon Will Be Virtual For 2021
And now for some news that at this point should really come as no surprise to anybody - another event is going virtual thanks to COVID-19.
Although the vaccine is finally starting to be distributed, it's going to be a while before it gets out to enough people that we can expect events with crowds to happen safely again. Run Wild Missoula had to go virtual with pretty much everything they did in 2020 - including the annual Missoula Marathon, one of the city's biggest events of the year - and it looks like, at least for the first few months of 2021, they'll be doing the same thing.
The annual Snow Joke Half Marathon, which is entering its 42nd year and typically takes place in Seeley Lake, will indeed be going virtual this year. And rather than taking place on one day, you've actually got a few to log your time - runners can self-report their times anytime from February 27th through March 2nd. Registration is open right now.
In the past, the Snow Joke Half Marathon has seen about 700 participants annually - who knows how many will take part when it's virtual, but we do know that everyone who participates will get some swag, and the top three male and female runners will get some extra stuff, which has yet to be determined.
Have you taken part in a virtual marathon in 2020? Do you think they'll be able to do the Missoula Marathon this year, and if they do, will they have to limit capacity?
