Earlier this month we told you about the Winter Wonderland activities on campus to welcome back spring semester students. Which included a once-in-generation opportunity to ice skate on the University’s Oval that is now open to the public.

Each day, the ice rink will open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with times set aside for student-only reservations but also open skate times for the public. If you're not a student, you're invited to skate when the calendar notes “Open Skate" and reservations are not required, it is a first-come, first-served basis. And keep in mind, no more than 25 skaters will be allowed on the rink at time. It sounds like you can reserve time for groups, too, learn more HERE. You can see the current schedule below.

Naturally, masks are required at all times on the ice rink and there is a self-check in form at the gate. Participants must check-in before skating, as required by the Missoula City-County Health Department for COVID-10 mitigation, contract tracing and monitoring. The ice rink is a community, self-monitored rink, and the U recommends helmets for safety, physical distancing when possible, being respectful of patrons and skating safely.

The ice rink will be open as long as cold temperatures permit, but I feel like it may not last as long as we'd like thanks to unusually warm temperatures in Missoula this year.
