MPD Arrest Two People for Trying to Use a Fraudulent Prescription to Get Drugs

Just before noon Wednesday, an employee at a local pharmacy in the 2200 block of Oxford Street called Missoula police. The complainant reported that a woman had just attempted to use a fraudulent prescription to obtain dangerous prescription drugs. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

“The employee provided a description of the female and the vehicle the female got into,” Welsh said. “The vehicle left the business. Shortly after that, officers located that vehicle travelling northbound on Brooks Street. The officer initiated a stop and made contact with three adults, one male and two females.”

After further investigation, their vehicle was impounded and the three individuals were brought to the police department for interviews.

“Two of the individuals, 21-year-old Lalique Brown and 24-year-old Marcus Hopkins, were eventually placed under arrest and transported to the Missoula County Jail. Brown was held on a charge of fraudulently obtaining dangerous drugs. Hopkins is being held on a charge of obstructing a peace officer and fraudulently obtaining dangerous drugs. The additional charge for Hopkins is due to the fact that he refused to initially identify himself.”

The other female was not arrested. According to Welsh, Missoula police have received similar reports from other locations around town. Missoula police are looking into the possibility that Brown and Hopkins may be involved in those other incidents.
