You might not frequent such facilities, but it is nice have them up and running again should any needs arise.

Starting today (Wednesday, June 3) Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks offices and visitor centers are once again open to the public. The FWP offices have been closed since late March due to Montana’s COVID-19 pandemic response. As the state moves into Phase 2 of Governor Steve Bullock’s Reopening the Big Sky Plan, strict adherence to Phase 2 guidelines will be critical: stay at home if you feel sick, make sure to frequently wash and sanitize your hands, and maintain at least six feet of distance from other people.

FWP front offices around the state will be set up to help facilitate simple guidelines, including marking floors to help keep people spaced out, providing hand sanitizer for customers, and glass dividers between front counter staff and customers. Please note that many FWP employees are still working remotely, so for business beyond front desk license purchases and other related information, plan to reach out to the appropriate staff member directly by phone or email or ask front desk staff for contact information.

In the words of Montana FWP Director Martha Williams, “We’re looking forward to having our customers back in our regional and local lobbies and visitor centers. We’ve worked hard to prepare our buildings to keep our public and staff safe.”

License buyers can purchase licenses online or from license providers around the state. Hunters applying for special licenses or permits need to do so online and need to have a valid email address. FWP will mail carcass tags to those who purchase online, and people who have had trouble printing their licenses will receive them in the mail. You can find more license purchasing information here.

And tourists and non-tourists alike can find visitor centers helpful and informative. We welcome back those Montana ambassadors.
