In 2021, Missoula donated more than $1 million to local nonprofits.

The Missoula Community Foundation hosts 'Missoula Gives' the 26-hour online celebration to bring attention to our incredible local non-profit groups that make our community so special. It’s a time to realize and appreciate the impact that these groups of diligent Montanans have on our city and residents. Each year we’re impressed by the generosity of our local business owners and neighbors, and overall, it’s just a really nice reminder of why we all choose to live in Missoula.

Missoula Gives will begin taking online contributions this Thursday, May 5th and you can donate to the specific causes of your choice. There are more than 180 nonprofits to choose from, so here are some that you may not know about.

The Affordable Housing Trust Fund

Missoula's only local source of funding to “meet the ambitious and urgent housing goals.”

Arlee Rehabilitation Center

This group serves the Flathead Indian Reservation by providing a sanctuary where animals heal people and people heal animals. As well, they have sponsors who will match your donations during Missoula Gives!

Empower MT

This mainly youth group works to create “a just and inclusive society by empowering youth and adult leaders that work to end mistreatment, correct systemic inequalities, and strengthen communities.”

The Mothers' Milk Bank of Montana

This group has really struggled during the pandemic; so local moms have worked together beautifully to support each other. The Milk Bank “collects, screens, pasteurizes, and distributes human donor milk to infants with medical need for the milk.” When a new mom's own milk is not available, human donor milk often provides optimal nutrition.

The past couple of years has left many of us feeling helpless and wondering how we can help our fellow Missoulians who have lost wages, jobs, and loved ones. Missoula Gives is an opportunity to actually witness the results of your contributions and learn more about the humanitarian efforts happening every day in our hometown. Let’s hit that million-dollar mark again!

Oh, by the way, if you see a friendly bee buzzing around town, that’s Polly the Missoula Gives mascot. If you see them, grab a selfie to submit on the Missoula Gives website and you could “bee” chosen to select the nonprofit of your choice to receive a $250 donation!
