It doesn't seem possible that Thanksgiving is next week! How in the world did that happen? While most families will gather around to enjoy turkey and all the fixins there are of course those that will look for assistance in order to have food on the table. For many, the Missoula Food Bank is where they will turn as the food bank estimates they'll serve around 2,500 families for the holiday.

Our local Food Bank is serving more people than ever before and many families are utilizing our emergency food services for the very first time. Now, more than ever before, we are counting on our community to put food on the tables of the 1 in 4 people in Missoula County utilizing emergency food services. - Missoula Food Bank website

The good news is the food bank is able to help so many people. But as they attempt to cover the community's needs they're currently looking for another 400 turkeys to be able to feed every family in need. With just over a week to go, that's about 45 turkey donations a day that's needed in order to hit the goal.

The push is on for turkeys but the food bank is also looking for donations of green beans, potatoes, pie crusts, and any other items that would traditionally be included in a holiday meal. An added bonus of any donation made before Can the Cats concludes is that it will count toward the total for the food drive.

If you can help with turkey or other items you can drop donations at the Missoula Food Bank - 1720 Wyoming Street. You can donate turkeys through Saturday (11/20) as they'll be distributed on Sunday (11/21.)
