At about 1:30 Tuesday afternoon, a local casino in the 3300 block of North Reserve Street called Missoula Police and asked for some assistance. According to Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh, the complainant needed help removing a male from the building.

“When they arrived, they made contact with an employee who pointed out a male inside the casino who was seated asleep at a machine,” Welsh said. “The complainant said she tried to wake him several times, but would either not wake up or simply go back to sleep after she woke him up. The officers made contact with the male. After several attempts, they were able to get him to wake up.”

The officers identified him and learned that he had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation. Welsh says officers attempted to place the man under arrest, but he resisted.

“As soon as they attempted to put him in the handcuffs he began to pull away and resist the efforts of the officers to take him into custody,” Welsh said. “Eventually, they did put handcuffs on him and placed him in the back of the patrol car. He was transported to the Missoula County Jail. During this action, the officers discovered that the male was in possession of a capped syringe and a small amount of a substance that they later identified as methamphetamine.”

The suspect is identified as 30-year-old Manuel Fisher. Fisher is facing a handful of charges including felony probation violation, felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. According to the report, Fisher was on probation for attempted assault of a peace officer.
