When it was announced last year that the movie "Killers of the Flower Moon" was coming out, directed by Martin Scorsese with Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and Lily Gladstone, there was quite a bit of excitement. When the critics had a chance to see the movie before it's wide release, there was already talk of "Oscar Buzz" surrounding the movie. Including the acting of Lily Gladstone, a University of Montana alum.

The Movie Differs From the Book

The movie is based on the book "The Killers of the Flower Moon The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI" written by David Grann. The book investigates a series of murders of  wealthy Osage people. The movie is based on the book, but doesn't follow it exactly. Martin Scorsese wrote the movie from a different angle than what he initially wanted the movie to be about. According to Variety, he had been writing the movie for two years, before he took a different approach after talking about the script with Leonard DiCaprio.

Both the Book and Movie Are Good

I read the book and saw the movie. The movie was excellent and Lily Gladstone's performance was incredible. It was a very believable and powerful performance and I, personally, think she has a very good chance at winning an Oscar for her work in the film.

Will a Montanan Claim Another Oscar?

The world will find out if the winning a Golden Globe will lead to an Oscar at the Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday March 10th. There will be a lot of Montanans rooting for Lily to win. It's not that often that an actor born in Montanan can claim the title of "Academy Award Winning Actor".
