Last night while I was walking across the Higgins St. bridge, my eyes were drawn to the red hot fire that had crossed over the top of Lolo Peak. It was a weird feeling to be going home to my safe cool apartment knowing that less than 30 miles away there were hundreds of Hotshots and first responders fighting two massive wildfires (Lolo and Little Hogback) and evacuating a countless number of families from their homes. Talk about putting things into perspective...

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so seeing these photos of the two fires closest to Missoula says way more about the bravery and courage of all the men and women who are putting their lives on the line to keep us and our beautiful Missoula safe, than I ever could. Just another reason why I'm so thankful for our first responders...

The Mt. Taylor Interagency Hotshots were nice enough to let me share the photos they posted on their Facebook page of the Lolo Peak and Little Hogback fires. Lolo Peak photos are ABOVE and Little Hogback are BELOW!
