Cryptids are creatures that people say exist despite the lack of definitive proof. They're often seen in forests, and everyone knows Montana has plenty plenty of woods. Here's list of cryptids I think are lurking in Montana:

I figured I'd start with the obvious one. Here's a list of sightings in Western Montana.

You may think I'm ridiculous for this one, but I truly believe it. Just this week the President of Mexico posted a photo of an "alux" which is basically an elf. Not the Christmas kind of elf but something like that.

The Flathead Monster:

Like the Loch Ness monster, but from Flathead. Although some say it moved to North Carolina.

According to Wikpedia, a wendigo is "a mythological creature or evil spirit originating from the folklore of Plains and Great Lakes Natives as well as some First Nations." This article from Bozeman Kiss FM describes them as "typically a tall and skinny human-esque form with antlers" and that they supposedly "lure in victims by imitating human voices." If there's one cryptid on this list I hope I never see, it's definitely a wendigo.

Back in 2018 there was talk of a werewolf being found in Montana, but the so-called experts say it was actually a gray wolf. Just kiddding, I do believe the experts in this case because a real werewolf would never allow itself to get caught.

Montana is the home of famous footage of UFOs, and I have no doubt the alien pilots land in our woods from time to time for some good ol' fashioned camping.

Here's a fun way to see if you're a "true" Montanan. If you can end any of these phrases with "in the woods" and it applies to you, you might be a Montanan. Enjoy.
