Ravalli County Sheriff Steve Holton said on Thursday that counterfeit $100 bills have been passed in Stevensville.

"Earlier this week up in the Stevensville area we had a counterfeit $100 bill passed at a local business," Holton said. "With just a little inspection you realize that it's fraudulent. It had some foreign language characters on one side of it, but the concerning part is back in July we had a $20 bill passed up there. There are no similarities between the bills, but since they were both passed in the Stevensville area, we want to see if they're connected somehow."

Holton said his office has received some surveillance photos to share with the public.

"The good news is, we got a good description from the clerk who took the cash, and we also have some surveillance photos of the suspect and the blue truck he was driving," he said. "Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ravalli County Sheriff's Office at 363-3033."
