18 States See Gas Below $1.99 a Gallon, Missoula Still Near $3.00
Gas prices are dropping across Montana, though gasbuddy.com Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan says some stations are cutting the prices much faster than others.
“Gas prices in Montana have continued to plunge, down about four cents a gallon in the last week, currently at about $2.83 a gallon for the state average,” DeHaan said. “Prices throughout the state vary widely, some of the cheapest prices, right now at least: there is a Sinclair in Barretts at $2.44 and some stations in Billings at $2.58, but certainly some stations are coming down much faster than others.”
Most prices in Missoula were closer to $3.00 a gallon, while some states are seeing prices dip below $2.00 a gallon.
“There are currently 18 states in which motorists can find at least one station at a $1.99 a gallon or less, that’s quite a long list that has increased from just five states two weeks ago,” DeHaan said. “The cheapest gas in the country right now is at a Buc-ee’s in Denton, Texas where it’s just $1.79 a gallon.”
DeHaan says prices should counting to slide across the county for at least another two weeks or so, though a big OPEC meeting in early December could change the market’s course.
