Woman Threatens to Slit Her Neighbor’s Throat During Attempted Burglary
On June 7, 2022, at approximately 3:59 a.m., Missoula Police Department Officers were dispatched to apartments in the 2300 block of South 9th Street West. A resident of those apartments had informed dispatch that a neighbor who lives on the floor above her was attempting to break into her apartment. Police Public Information Officer Lydia Arnold picks up the story.
“Officer responded to an apartment complex for a report of a female, Vivian Cooper, attempting to break into an apartment,” Arnold said. “When officers arrived on scene, officers observed damage to the entry door and spoke to the victim who was very shaken up and scared by the incident.”
When officers arrived, the victim informed them that while Cooper was banging on her door, she was making threats to slit the victim’s throat. Officers observed obvious damage to the front of the victim’s door, specifically right above the door handle where it appeared that Cooper had attempted to pry the door open. There was also visible damage to the inside sill of the doorway and multiple marks on the door itself.
“As officers were on scene conducting the investigation, Cooper showed back up at the scene,” Arnold said. “Officers took Cooper into custody. This case is still under investigation with the Missoula Police Department.”
Cooper began making statements expressing negative and violent feelings towards the victim before being placed in handcuffs. During transport, Cooper made several statements about her wishes and intent to “slit” the victim’s throat.
Throughout transport, Cooper continued to express negative emotions and dislike for several individuals and willingness to cause them bodily injury. The specific statements made by Cooper were recorded by a Missoula Police Department in-car camera.
Cooper is currently being charged with felony attempted burglary and criminal mischief.
