So many concerts and events have been lost this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It's just a normal daily occurrence that we get word of another cancellation. Sitting here in early June we can't help but think of what would have been with the Missoula Marathon that was originally scheduled for the end of the month. And, late last week we got word that Missoula's Garden City Brewfest has been cancelled.

We're at an interesting stage where some events are still scheduled and are fast approaching. Organizers are tasked with deciding if the show must go on, or if the correct call is to pull the plug.  It looks like the Polson Chamber of Commerce is looking to the community for their interest in holding the annual Polson Cherry Festival.

Right now, the festival is scheduled for July 18th & 19th. The Chamber has posted on their Facebook page and asked the public to give a YES/NO answer concerning attendance plans for the festival.

It looks like YES is the clear winner when you take a quick scroll through the social media replies. Of course, there are those with reservations as well. Concerns include the risks presented by the presence of out-of-town vendors and festival participants. Another poster wonders why graduates couldn't have a typical ceremony but the festival can go on.

Will thousands of people be able to sample the Flathead cherries this year? What changes could the Polson Cherry Festival see if they proceed with holding the event as planned? It looks like the Polson Chamber of Commerce has some decisions to make.

Have you attended the festival before? Were you hoping to attend this year? Stay informed with what decisions are made with the Polson Cherry Festival on the Polson Chamber of Commerce Facebook page HERE.
