“…Facial massage is like coffee for the skin. Everything comes to life…" - Gucci Westman

One of my favorite things to do is go to the spa and leave feeling rejuvenated! It’s like going to the gym and working out your legs, except at the spa they do all the laborious work.

Who doesn’t love getting pampered? Drinking that fancy spa water, listening to relaxing music and having an even more beautiful reflection?

Have I mentioned I love love love going to the spa.

I recently had a Pumpkin Facial at All That Jazz Salon and Day Spa. It was so relaxing I almost fell asleep.

Getting a facial helps exfoliate your skin. Getting those dead cells off will help unclog your pores and leave your face glowing newer cells underneath. It also helps with aging.

“Like the rest of your body, your face has many muscles, and like your shoulders or back, it gets tight and holds on to stress. By relaxing muscles and connective tissue, massaging the face softens expression-induced lines around your eyes, lips and brows, helps expel acne-causing toxins and de-puffs and brightens the eye area…”

Don’t think your budget will allow a trip to the spa? No problemo! You can reap the same benefits to your face as getting the real deal in the salon… Even make your own spa water.

1. Start on the cheeks. Draw big circles using your fingers or knuckles, moving upward.

2. On one side of the face at a time, rub from the midjaw to the cheekbone with long upward strokes, pressing firmly for a moment at the top.

3. Work smile lines with upward strokes, from the corners of the mouth to the corners of the nose.

4. With your fingers, lift and hold both brows to open up the eye area. Rub in a circle around the eye socket out to the temples, eventually expanding to include the forehead.

5. To plump lips, use thumbs and index fingers to quickly pluck all across the top and bottom lip, which stimulates blood flow.
