This past my family and lots of family friends got together to celebrate the life of my father, John Jenkins Sr. It was everything I could have asked for and more and there is no doubt in my mind he would have been proud of the ceremony and celebration that took place on Friday.

The ceremony included all of my siblings saying a few words and adding a quick story about dad. With all of my siblings getting older and having families of their own it's difficult to get everyone together. And it's tough for situations like this but having family to lean on during a tough time like this does seem to make it a tiny bit easier.

There is no doubt that the pain of losing my father is going to last the rest of my life. But I take such pride in knowing I had a tremendous father, role model, and friend. There are a lot of people that aren't that lucky. My dad had numerous health problems so it does help knowing he isn't hurting anymore, but I will always want one more chat with dad.

The party after the funeral ceremony included most of dad's favorite foods, including lots of Reeses Peanut Butter Cups and Coke. Not exactly the most healthy but he lived with no regrets. There were tears, there were laughs, but I know dad would have loved the way we celebrated his life.
