Back when I lived in New York, I used to help judge a Halloween costume contest for pets, along with an Elvis impersonator, a former beauty pageant runner-up, and a guy who drove a car designed like the Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters (it was a colorful group). I did that for a couple of years, and I got to see a ton of creative pet costumes - someone created a whole Thanksgiving float with their dog in the center as the turkey; another had a dog and a cat dressed like Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas; one guy even brought a turtle - I don't remember what the turtle's costume was, I just remember that there was a turtle.

Anyway, if you think you've got a cool idea for a costume for your own pet, you should check this out - Unleashed MT is holding a Howloween (I see what they did there) pet costume contest. Starting on Monday, October 26th, you just have to submit a photo of your dog to memo@mtunleashed.com, or stop by in person to have your photo taken by the staff. They'll be allowing entries from the 26th through the 31st, and announce the winner on that last day before 9 PM.

Winners will receive a half-day of daycare, a custom professional photo shoot, and a one-hour training session with Unleashed MT's personal trainer. Plus, they're gonna donate $5 to the animal shelter for every entry they get, which is pretty cool.

Think you and your pet have what it takes to win this thing? You can check out all the details at their Facebook event page.
