Tuesdays With Tami And Joy – ‘Only The Brave’

This week's movie hits extra close to home for us living here in Missoula because we have witnessed first hand the bravery and dedicated shown by hotshots fighting the fires in Montana. But I don't think anyone can really be prepared to see the movie, Only The Brave, featuring huge performances by Miles Teller, Taylor Kitsch, Josh Brolin, Jeff Bridges and Jennifer Connelly.

Besides getting choked up talking about the movie and the devastating storyline, Tami and Joy couldn't stop raving about the film. Yes it's heartbreaking, but they did the lives of the hotshots that were lost by casting perfectly and showcasing the bravery of the men who lost their lives. Deintely takes your appreciation for what these firefighters and first responders have to face in order to protect us, our homes and our animals...

Here's how IMBD describes Only The Brave:

In 2007 Prescott, Arizona, Eric Marsh of the Prescott Fire Department is frustrated fighting forest fires when the Type 1 or "Hotshot" front line forest fire fighting crews from afar overrule his operational suggestions to his area's sorrow. To change that, Marsh gets approval from the Mayor to attempt to organize an unprecedented certified municipal-based Hotshot crew for Prescott. To that end, Marsh needs new recruits, which includes the young wastrel, Brendan McDonough, to undergo the rigorous training and qualification testing for the most dangerous of fire fighting duty. Along the way, the new team meets the challenge and the hailed Granite Mountain Hotshots are born. In doing so, all the men, especially McDonough, are changed as new experience and maturity is achieved in fire-forged camaraderie. All this is put to the test in 2013 with the notorious Yarnell Hill Fire that will demand efforts and sacrifices no one can ignore.

   1. Tami - Extremely emotional, but incredibly well made!

3. See it in theaters or wait to rent?
   1. Definitely see it in theaters but bring a BIG box of tissues!
4. Appropriate for kids 13 and under?
   1. Depends. The movie might be too intense for kids that young, especially if they've lost someone they really care about. Just thinking about how these guys died is enough to give anyone pause...
5. Who picked the movie?
   1. Both!
6. Rotten Tomatoes rating?
   1. 90%
