The Roxy Summer Camps Go Digital This Year
Every year, The Roxy Theater holds filmmaking summer camps for kids, which is an awesome way to get them interested in movies and how they're made. This year, thanks to social distancing and the Coronavirus, things are a little different, but they're still planning to move forward with the camps - as with a lot of things, they're just gonna be online this year.
Each camp is for ages 8 and up and costs $50, and will run for a week either in June or July. Courses include Introduction to Filmmaking, Music Video Camp, and Archival Footage Editing Camp. They each feature daily Zoom calls with instructors, video tutorials, watch parties, Q&As, and more.
Here, the Roxy outlines the idea behind the camps and what you'll need going into it:
Dear Fellow Humans and Film Enthusiasts,
This summer the Roxy Theater is proud to present Roxy Film Academy Digital Filmmaking camps! In lieu of our regularly scheduled physical summer camps, the Roxy Theater has come up with an array of digital modules designed to feed the young creative minds in our community. Each camp has unique and exciting elements that will aid the budding filmmaker in your household and allow them to create original content and equip them with a foundational knowledge of moviemaking. The camps will be offered for a low cost and will provide a week’s worth of interactive learning materials. Please take a look below and find the camp that works for your kid’s interest. Thank you for your continued support! Stay safe and keep creating!
What You’ll Need:
- A Camera (iPhone, iPad, tablet, or digital film camera)
- A computer with good wifi (laptop or desktop)
- A passion for the Art of Filmmaking!
