Ever wanted to try some of the challenges that those Ninja Warriors do on TV? BEAR (Bitterroot Ecological Awareness Resources) Co-op in Hamilton has a Ropes Course that will be offering the public chances to try out the low course and the high elements at the site. The free Ropes Challenge Course Community Day is September 25.

Here's How to Participate

The Ropes Challenge Course includes a number of different rope-involved courses, a climbing wall, and a ground-level low course for those who might be “altitude challenged.” On Community Day, groups will start at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., and 4 p.m. All ages are welcome, but if you want to try to upper course, you’ll need to pre-register at BEAR co-op’s website. Registration for the lower course will be done on Community Day. You’ll need to sign a liability waiver and anyone under 18 years of age will need a parent or guardian to sign.

Bring a Bike and Get Some Safety Tips

Ravalli County DUI Task Force and the Western Montana Mental Health Center will also be at the event to offer help on substance use prevention and bicycle safety. Bring your bike and helmet to the park. BEAR will have a limited supply of bikes for loan during the day. And there will be a bike helmet giveaway and some snacks available.

About the Ropes Course

The Ropes Course was built a couple of years ago at Hamilton’s Hieronymus Park, next to the Bitterroot River Inn. Since then, BEAR has used it as part of its offerings for the community’s youth. They offer peer mentors for all high school students in the valley, focusing on outdoor activities. Their official goal is “To inspire youth to connect to their own potential, their community and the landscape through experiential and outdoor adventure programs.” More information is available at 406 363-5410.
