There has been a lot of skepticism about the new Ghostbusters. Would Paul Feig and his new cast pull it off? Would angry fanboys lose their minds before the movie came out? There was a lot of anxiety. But it’s hard to ignore an endorement like the one the new Ghostbusters got on Jimmy Kimmel Live! from the original Ghostbusters.

We don’t yet have a formal premiere date for Netflix’s officially-titled Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life revival, but that hasn’t stopped fan anticipation for catching up with their favorite Stars Hollow characters. And where Melissa McCarthy’s Sookie St. James seemed touch and go for awhile, a first photo of McCarthy back in costume has arrived.

Director Paul Feig has maintained that his new Ghostbusters movie isn’t a sequel or a remake, but a reboot. Basically, it ignores the fictional events and characters depicted in Ivan Reitman’s classic 1984 film — which makes the first trailer for Feig’s movie a bit confusing. If you count yourself among those who were baffled by the trailer, then you can rest easy with the knowledge that someone who is actually in the movie is also confused. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have any answers for you.

The Boss is not a good comedy. At times, it is impressively unfunny. In 99 patience testing minutes, I laughed out loud just once. (If you must know, it was when Melissa McCarthy described her vagina after a rejuvenation surgery as resembling a “soft silk purse.” That’s funny!) As the credits finally rolled on the press screening and I gathered my belongings, I thought to myself “That was exactly the sort of cruddy, heavily improvised, flop-sweat drenched unfunny comedy that typically ends with outtakes and bloopers.”

Less than a week after the first full Ghostbusters trailer, there’s now a second trailer. An international trailer! All the characters speak exotic languages! (Okay, not really, they all speak English.) But, hey there’s a lot more Chris Hemsworth in this trailer! He’s from Australia! That’s international! (Or Asgard, which would technically make this the intergalactic trailer.)

Melissa McCarthy returned to Studio 8H for her fourth outing as SNL host, and while it may have made more sense for her to host closer to the April release date of her new comedy The Boss, it's difficult to complain. McCarthy teams up with her Ghostbusters co-stars Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones for a mostly great episode that really leans into the weird stuff and makes excellent use of musical guest Kanye West in an early contender for best sketch of the year. Still a broadcast rating juggernaut, CBS could make the argument more than most for extending or cutting short its most recognizable hits, and with TCA putting the Eye in the limelight, CBS has good news and bad. We may not have to worry about The Big Bang Theory returning after next season, while Mike & Molly’s closure is official, and both The Good Wife and Person of interest get dubious futures.
