The suspect in a shooting incident that occurred on Monday evening in Missoula was captured without incident about 24 hours later in Lake County.

Missoula County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jeannette Smith said that deputies worked through the day and uncovered in formation that led to the arrest of Zakai Houck, who is also known as Kai William.

Houck was arrested in Lake County without incident, and is being held on an outstanding warrant from that jurisdiction, as well as for the shooting incident in Missoula on Monday evening in which the victim sustained critical injuries, and is being treated at Missoula’s St. Patrick Hospital.

Missoula County Sheriff T.J. McDermott thanked the public for their assistance in locating Houck, as well as Lake County Sheriff’s personnel for their assistance in the suspect’s arrest.

The investigation is ongoing into the Missoula shooting incident. It is not known when Houck will appear in Missoula to face charges in the shooting.
