Ryan Zinke will no longer be the Interior Secretary after January 2, 2019, according to President Donald Trump. The President said Saturday, December 15, that Zinke had sent him a resignation letter, and Trump will announce a replacement next week. The nomination needs to be approved by the U.S. Senate.

Zinke wrote on Twitter this weekend: "I love working for the President and am incredibly proud of all the good work we’ve accomplished together. However, after 30 years of public service, I cannot justify spending thousands of dollars defending myself and my family against false allegations." Zinke was in the Montana Senate from 2007 to 2013, then became Montana's Congressman in the House of Representatives until 2017 before accepting President Trump's offer to be the head of the Interior Department.
