Philip Seymour Hoffman Found Dead With Needle in Arm

More details have surfaced about the shocking and sudden death of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, who was found dead today (Feb. 2) at the age of 46.

Apparently, the actor was found in the bathroom of his Greenwich Village apartment by an assistant. He was fully clothed when found but there was a fresh hypodermic needle in his arm, which would suggest that he died of a drug overdose, since heroin was also discovered in the home, according to The New York Post.

The assistant called 911 at 11:30AM.

Authorities are investigating.

Sources say that the actor, who won the Best Actor Oscar for his work as Truman Capote in 'Capote,' was out of it an appearance at Sundance last month. He had declined interviews and looked disheveled and pasty-skinned at the time.

Hoffman has battled addiction throughout his life. He went to rehab early in his life but later relapsed, checking himself into a treatment facility for 10 days last year.
