Last year, when everything closed thanks to COVID, so many businesses and industries were completely upended. The Roxy Theater here in Missoula couldn't show movies, and the Missoula Paddleheads couldn't play baseball. And the so the idea came about for Centerfield Cinema, a weekly movie screening that took place at Ogren Park, where they would show a different, popular movie on the scoreboard every week.

It was a huge success. I made it my personal mission to make it to every single Centerfield Cinema - pretty easy to do since there was literally nothing else going on in 2020 - and I succeeded, taking in some of my favorite movies like Back to the FutureRaiders of the Lost ArkJaws, and Beetlejuice on the big screen with a huge, socially-distanced crowd.

This year, things will be a little different, because the Paddleheads are actually going to have a baseball season this time around. But Centerfield Cinema was just a success that they promised they would keep it going, even if it wouldn't be weekly this time. And now, they've just announced the full schedule of dates where Centerfield Cinema will be happening for 2021.

They haven't revealed what movies will be playing yet, but here's when you'll see them:

April 22nd

April 29th

May 6th

May 13th

June 10th

July 22nd

August 26th

September 23rd

September 30th

So a little more sporadic than last year, which is accounting for the team's baseball schedule. Still, that's nine more times we get to chill on the baseball field, enjoy some nice weather, drink some good beer, eat some good food, and watch some of our old favorites.

What movies do you want to see play at Centerfield Cinema this year?
