The closer summer gets, the more my taste in music changes. It has something to do with the warmer weather and the feeling you get when you're driving in your car with the windows down and your music turned all the way up! For me, that feeling is freedom.

When you think about it, this is probably a conditioned response that I've developed over the years. As I'm sure you can relate, I associate the summer season with summer vacation. Obviously I'm an adult, with a job that doesn't follow the same structure as that of a professor or teacher. But I don't think I'll ever NOT get that excited flutter in my stomach when the snow starts to melt and the sun makes a longer and warmer appearance every day.

Like a lot of people, I change out my winter wardrobe with my summer one. Similarly, I make the same change with my music, only with the added addition of my favorite new tracks! Like the weather, I like the songs to be hot and full of energy.

As I'm sure you can gather, I'm addicted to finding new music that makes me feel something. In the beginning I'm not always sure of what it is, exactly, that I'm searching for. But when it finds me, the feeling crashes into me like a tidal wave.

The first time I heard Clean Bandits & Zara Larsson's new song Symphony, I practically felt the song wash over me. I've been feeling a little stressed out and slightly overwhelmed at work recently, and I didn't realize how much I needed the energy this song gives off, until I heard it for the first time. The more I play it, the more life it gives me!

Even though this song was released a couple months ago, it's finally making it's way up the charts. This isn't an unheard of occurrence, sometimes it just takes a little longer for some songs to catch on. Especially when the two artists on the track aren't necessarily what you'd call household names.

Both Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson have seen some on-and-off success over the last nine years of their careers. But I think Symphony puts them back on the map in a big way. Only the test of time will determine the longevity of this track, but it's definitely a contender for Song of the Summer. I guess we'll have to wait and see..
