More and More Passengers for Missoula International Airport

Have you done any air travel since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic? For the most part, I feel comfortable going into stores and businesses around town. But, I'm still a little standoffish when it comes to the thought of being stuck on a flying germ box for a long period of time. And I'll be honest - it's getting to where it's starting to be a bit of a nuisance. We don't know exactly where we'll stand with the coronavirus when fall and winter hit. That's making me a little reluctant to purchase any airfare for the holidays this year. Of course, the closer you wait before you want to fly, the more expensive it is.

The good news for Missoula International Airport is that more and more people are showing that they're ready to start flying again. That is welcome news as it's been quite a change of fortune for the airport. It set a new record for passenger travel in 2019. Fast forward a few months and less than 50 people a day were traveling. A story from KPAX quotes Missoula International Airport Director Chris Jensen as saying "we're definitely starting to see passengers come back now. We have days that are over 400."

With Montana working through phase 2 of reopening, restrictions being lifted, the weather changing, and more people feeling comfortable flying again - the number of passengers is expected to continue to climb. The airport has already been practicing increased sanitary measures and face masks will be available for passengers at the entrances to the airport.
