Montana Veterans Healthcare Topic of Virtual Townhall

The Montana VA Health Care System (MTVAHCS) is having a virtual town hall online and on the telephone today, Monday, November 23. Associate Director Dan Caufield said the event will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and will include information about how the health care system is starting to conduct virtual health appointments. The health care system plans to split the appointments equally between face-to-face appointments and virtual ones. Also, because of COVID-19, all elective surgeries are being rescheduled to a later date. If they have questions, Veterans should check with their primary care team or call the Nurse Triage Line at 1-877-468-8387, which is available 24 hours a day.

The Town Hall Monday will be available on the phone at 1-866-478-3358 or by a live stream at the Montana VA Facebook page or by logging into www.access.live/MontanaVATownHall.

Caufield said in a news release, "With Montana's COVID-19 cases on the rise, we want to share COVID-19 updates and highlight some of the telehealth options Veterans have to connect to their healthcare while staying safe." He said "MyHealtheVet" and "VA Video Connect" are two such options that will be discussed. Veterans will be able to ask questions live during the town hall.

The Montana VA Health Care System has over 47,000 enrolled Veterans in the state and, with a staff of 1,400 people, has 17 locations for health care. He also mentioned that a third of their staff are Veterans. The percentage of veterans in Montana's population is very high compared to other states. Their website has more information.
