If you're driving while you're reading this... hey dummy! Put the phone down! Pay attention to the road!

If you're not driving, then great, you can keep on reading - did you know that Montana has more distracted drivers than any other state in the country? On a list that WhistleOut put together this year, Montana is ranked all the way near the bottom, at #48 out of 50. The only states with worse distracted driving problems than us are Alabama and New Mexico.

That's definitely not a stat you want to find yourself on the wrong end of - the survey was collected with data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Association, in addition to studies from Zendrive which show the percentage of time people were observed driving while using their phones.

On the flip side of things, Arkansas, New York, and Alaska are considered the three best states with the least amount of distracted drivers (although there's a lot less people in Arkansas and Alaska then there is in most states, which might account for that). But still, if you're driving, please don't be on your phone. Texting and driving - or doing anything on your phone while driving - can have serious consequences, and you can hurt yourself or the people around you.

Are you surprised to find out that Montana is one of the worst states in the entire country when it comes to distracted drivers?

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Stacker used data from the 2020 County Health Rankings to rank every state's average life expectancy from lowest to highest. The U.S. Census 2019 American Community Survey and America's Health Rankings Senior Report 2019 data were also used to provide demographics on the senior population of each state and the state's rank on senior health care, respectively.
