Missoula has some wonderful neighborhoods, each with its own flavor. One of the more active communities is the Franklin to the Fort area, where they are holding a block party at Franklin Park (Kemp and 10th St.) on September 1st from 5:30-8 pm. “F2F Block Party: Come Get the Scoop” is co-sponsored by the City’s Office of Neighborhoods, and Franklin-to-Fort Neighbors-in-Action (F2F NiA) and they are hoping to engage more of the area residents by making them aware of ways they can help improve the neighborhood.

Let The Games Begin!

There will be games for kids, lawn games, a water balloon toss, an obstacle course, and more. A dozen community information tables. There will be food trucks from Mexican Moose, Big Dipper Ice Cream, and Stuffed 406. Art-making is led by Indigenous artist-educators Cameron and Aspen Decker. Creatively, you can also add to the mural “What do you love about the F2F neighborhood?”

Franklin to the Fort has the largest population of all Missoula’s neighborhoods according to the press release and along with that, they also have very little sidewalk (missing 22 miles), not much protective zoning, and host its share of social services like the Johnson Street Shelter.

Everybody’s got “A Plan” How do you get heard?

Did I mention those 12 information tables? At least two community planning processes will be coming up that affect Midtown and they give those residents a great chance to say what’s on their minds and shape the neighborhood for years to come. The City of Missoula has begun a comprehensive code reform project that will impact zoning and lots of other regulations. You could call Franklin to the Fort - Midtown Ground Zero.
