Just after 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Missoula police officers responded to a disorderly conduct report at a department store in the 2400 block of North Reserve. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

“When the officers arrived, they learned that a male had been yelling at another male after his juvenile son had told him that the male had taken photographs of him inside a bathroom stall,” Welsh said. “The victim’s father notified store employees and they called 9-1-1. The officers made contact with all parties involved and they identified the suspect as 38-year-old Steven Baltz. Mr. Baltz was subsequently arrested. He is currently being held for one count of sexual abuse of a minor and one count of surreptitious visual observation.”

According to Welsh, officers arrested Baltz and transported him the Missoula County Detention Center. A conviction for sexual abuse of children in Montana can result in a maximum life sentence and a fine of up to $50,000.
