Missoula Police Arrest Man for Cutting a Woman’s Throat Downtown
Just before 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Missoula Police received a report that a female had what appeared to be a knife wound to her throat. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh says officers quickly responded to the 300 block of North Higgins.
“The officers made contact with the female who was conscious, breathing, and able to speak with them,” Welsh said. “She showed them a knife wound on the left side of her throat that was actively bleeding. She identified a 46-year-old male, Gregory Weatherwax, as the suspect who caused the wound with a small knife. Mr. Weatherwax was located in another part of the location where it occurred, which happened to be the courthouse lawn. The knife was recovered.”
Weatherwax was taken into custody and is being charged with felony assault with a weapon. According to the report, Weatherwax and the female both appeared to be heavily intoxicated at the time of the incident.
