35 year-old Brandon Darrah was sentenced this week in Missoula U.S. District Court to 32 months in the Montana State Prison followed by three years of supervised release for illegal possession of a firearm that he discharged in his apartment.

Darrah pleaded guilty in August to possession of the firearm and ammunition when he was prohibited from doing so.

Darrah was on state probation for a felony drug conviction and was under supervision by the Department of Corrections.

On December 11, 2019, Missoula Police were called to Darrah’s apartment for a report of a discharged firearm. Initially, Darrah initially denied that he fired the shot, even though he admitted that the shot was fired in his apartment.

A revolver was found in a shoe box hidden in a shoebox in a crawl space above the bathroom, and that Darrah admitted that he lied to police, and that he was prohibited from having a firearm.

Darrah was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Dana Christensen as par of Project Guardian, a Department of Justice initiative to reduce gun violence and enforce state and federal firearms laws.
