Missoula Leaders Request Mandatory Masking Policy
Both the Mayor and the Missoula County Commissioners have officially asked Health Officer Ellen Leahy to institute a mandatory masking order ‘requiring the wearing of masks or cloth face coverings in businesses licensed by the Missoula City County Health Department or City of Missoula’.
They are also requesting a special meeting of the Health Board, as necessary to review that order.
Engen and the commissioners state that masks can limit the spread of the virus and that the mandatory masking measure ‘seems reasonable and timely’.
They state that ‘we know you’re inclined to pursue this action, and we wanted to formalize our support through this letter.’
KGVO attempted to contact Leahy on Wednesday afternoon regarding the request, but due to her heavy schedule, she was not able to return the call.
It is not known when the order might be instituted.
