There could be 50 to 70 homeless FAMILIES in Missoula on any given night.  That's the estimate of the Missoula YWCA.  And that's the highest number in the state.

Sleeping outside isn't an option when the winter weather takes over - and the YWCA can only provide shelter for up to 12 homeless families at a time before adding to a waiting list.

The guess is that dozens of families in the area hide their situation.  But after a normal day of dropping kids at school and going to work, they have no other option than to sleep in their car.

The YWCA is working to give homeless families in Missoula more options for shelter and permanent housing.

Families can also seek help through the Missoula Coordinated Entry system, that will provide a survey and rand families based on need.
