Missoula Filmmaker Creates Multi-Cultural Songwriting Documentary
Montana meets Spain in a soon-to-be-released short film about two songwriters who live 5,000 miles apart from one another yet are still attempting to create music as one.
"We've just wrapped up production on 'Montespaña', it's a story of two people from completely different cultures, one's a gypsy from Spain and the other is a rocker from Montana. I was inspired by this idea about a year and a half ago while I was interviewing people from all around Spain and Montana for the position and these two just really clicked." said Nic Davis, director of the film.
The Montanan he's referring to is none other than John McLellan, lead singer of the well known group, The Clintons. John, who recently teamed up with his popular group to release a tongue-in-cheek video in hopes of getting the attention of pop star Taylor Swift, is currently residing in Helena and is also working closely with Nic on the Montespaña film.

On Thursday, March 29th, a fundraiser will be taking place in two downtown venues to help raise money for the completion of the project. Nic elaborates, "We really need to hire the professionals (to help with) the mixing, color and sound." Currently they have well over 40 hours of footage and are hoping to condense it down to 45 minutes for the final product. The film is scheduled for a premiere in April at The Roxy Theater.
