Missoula Deputy Nabs Wanted Man, Caught With Meth at Jail
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On October 20, 2026, at approximately 1:21 p.m., a Missoula County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was on patrol when he observed a gold Ford F-250 pickup truck registered to 58-year-old George Evans in the parking lot of the Wye Town Pump located at 8745 Highway 93 North. The deputy knew that Evans had multiple active warrants for his arrest.
The deputy entered the casino area of the Town Pump and saw Evans seated and playing a game. The deputy approached Evans and told him he was under arrest on the outstanding warrants. Evans was taken into custody without incident.
During the arrest process, the deputy removed and secured Evans's personal property, including his cell phone, wallet, keys, cash, and other items located on his person prior to transport. Evans was then transported and booked into the Missoula County Detention Facility.
During a routine search of Evans by Detention Officers, a gold canister was located underneath Evans’s first layer of pants. The item was described as a gold-colored capsule containing a white powdery residue.
The deputy advised Evans of his Miranda rights, which Evans stated he understood and was willing to answer questions. The deputy questioned Evans about the capsule and the substance inside. Evans denied any knowledge of the capsule or its contents.
The deputy seized the capsule as evidence. The deputy then conducted an MDI field test and ACE-ID. Both indicated a positive presumptive test for methamphetamine. The suspected methamphetamine is pending transport to the Montana State Crime Lab for chemical analysis.
