Missoula,  MT (KGVO-AM News) - On April 1, 2025, at approximately 3:11 a.m., a Missoula Police Department officer responded to a casino in the 2200 block of Brooks St. after an employee reported that she located a Tupperware container with “lots of” drugs inside.

The officer arrived and spoke with the employee, who explained that she had observed the Tupperware sitting on a chair at a gaming machine. Officers determined that 32-year-old Daniel Schlosser was the last person “checked” into the machine. The employee told the officer that Schlosser continuously went into the bathroom and came and went from the Casino between midnight and the time of the 911 call.

The officer took possession of the Tupperware container and could see multiple plastic baggies inside. One baggie appeared to contain a white/crystalline substance consistent with methamphetamine.

Around this time, Schlosser walked up the to the Casino’s counter and cashed himself out. He was accompanied by a female. Both Schlosser and the female then left the Casino and began walking away from it quickly. The officer followed them and initiated contact in a nearby parking lot. Another arrived on scene to assist.

The officer advised Schlosser of his Miranda rights. Schlosser admitted he was at the gaming machine the entire evening but denied ownership of the Tupperware. He said it could have been sitting on the chair prior to his arrival, but he just didn’t notice it. The officer found this statement highly questionable as the Tupperware was approximately 4 x 5 x 1 inches in size and bright red in color. According to court documents, Schlosser said he only sat on the edge of the seat and didn’t look at it before sitting down.

Based on the evidence, the officers arrested Schlosser and searched him. They located a small electric scale in Schlosser’s coat pocket. Schlosser said the scale was used for “pot.”

One officer transported Schlosser to jail while the other took the Tupperware and the scale to the police station for testing. Inside the Tupperware, the officer located a large baggie containing multiple small baggies and two larger baggies. The two larger baggies contained a white/crystalline substance (weighing 13.32g and 12.15g, respectively). Both tested presumptively positive for methamphetamine.

The officer also swabbed and tested some white powdery residue located on the scale, which tested presumptively positive for methamphetamine. The officer noted in his report that the quantity of dangerous drugs, in conjunction with the multiple baggies, did not appear consistent with personal use.

Schlosser is currently being charged with felony criminal possession with intent to distribute and criminal possession of dangerous drugs.
