Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - The Missoula County Attorney’s Office charged 28 new criminal complaints this week, which is nine more than last week and nearly double their weekly average. According to County Attorney Kirsten Pabst, nine of those cases involved violent crimes or crimes against persons.

“In one, a woman threatened to kill police officers and harm their families,” Pabst said. “We charged two new fairly serious stalking cases and a violation of an order of protection. There was also one new allegation of sexual assault. In that case, a tattooer allegedly sexually abused a client.”

In the endangerment category, Pabst said there were four new cases.

“There were two felony DUIs and another case in which an individual jumped out of a moving vehicle causing a crash,” Pabst said. “Law enforcement suspects that drugs may have been involved. The fourth was a careless driving resulting in death. In that case, a distracted driver hit a wheelchair-bound pedestrian and that person died as a result of the crash.”

Pabst mentioned that there were three new theft cases as well. One involved stolen money and prescription drugs and another involved a flatbed truck valued at $90,000.

“There were lots of drug cases this week,” Pabst said. “One was a codeine scam where the defendant allegedly impersonated a doctor. There was another multi-polysubstance case involving mushrooms, fentanyl, and meth. There were a lot more meth cases. There was also a fentanyl case involving possession of 700 pills.”

Pabst said there was another drug case where the defendant allegedly possessed a scheduled drug called gabapentin, which is used to treat nerve pain and epilepsy.

In addition, they charged one failure to register and five fugitives from justice. You can listen to Pabst's full report below:
