Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - The Missoula County Attorney’s Office charged 19 new criminal complaints this week, which is three less than last week and higher than the weekly average. On Friday morning, Deputy County Attorney Brittany Williams provided a report to KGVO’s Talk Back audience.

“This week, we charged seven violent or crimes against persons,” Williams said. “We charged two endangerment type of crimes, we charged six property crimes, four drug crimes, and zero administrative crimes this week. We had a total of 19 new cases that have been filed. Of those, 14 of those were in custody cases that we looked at and five were out of custody cases.”

One of the cases this week involved a stolen U-Haul trailer. In another, a teen nearly ran over an officer's foot when he tried to flee the scene in a vehicle. One man got caught with over 125 fentanyl pills. Another man broke into a Missoula locker room and got caught with meth. Missoula jail staff also found meth in a man’s pocket. Finally, a man was charged with stealing batteries from Home Depot after he had already been trespassed from that store for stealing multiple times before.

Williams also talked about what it is like to work with HIDTA and the Drug Task Force here in Missoula.

“I would say that it is unlike any sort of crimes that I have prosecuted before,” Williams said. “I have come to find that it is a lot of running a gunning all the time. I don’t think it would come as a surprise to you that drug dealers don’t keep banker's hours. We have a lot of work that comes at all hours of the night.”

Williams also mentioned that she really appreciates being able to work with those agencies.

“I think that they are an amazing group, and we are really doing our best to try and get drugs off the street and try and keep the community safe,” Williams said. “I appreciate all of the law enforcement partners I work with out there. I think that they are doing their absolute best for the community and I am proud to work with them.”

The Missoula County Attorney’s Office provides a report every Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. during KGVO’s Talk Back show.
