Missoula Man Arrested for Meth Threatens to “Kill All of You”

Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On September 25, 2023, a Missoula County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was dispatched for a person to be removed from the parking lot of the Days Inn at the Wye. A deputy contacted a male who identified himself as 61-year-old Edwin Murphy. After running him through dispatch, it was determined that Murphy had six total warrants outstanding totaling over $1,000 for his arrest.  

The deputy told Murphy that he was under arrest and placed him in handcuffs. According to court documents, Murphy immediately became uncooperative and started shouting in the deputy’s face. Murphy told the deputy that he could not arrest him. 

While this was going on, the deputy walked Murphy to the front of his patrol car and told him he was going to perform a search incident to arrest, removing his belongings from his pockets. The deputy asked Murphy if he had anything that could poke him. Murphy didn’t stop yelling and would not answer the question. 

During the search incident to arrest, the deputy found a baggie of methamphetamine, a syringe, a metal spoon, and a pipe. The deputy walked Murphy over to the back of his patrol car and placed him in the back seat.  

Murphy had four dogs in total in both of his vehicles. The dogs were taken to Animal Control for a safe place to stay.  

While the deputy was taking Murphy to jail, Murphy was threatening to “learn how to use weapons” to “kill all of you”. Murphy is currently being charged with felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia.
