Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On June 24, 2025, a Montana Highway Patrol trooper and a Missoula County Sheriff’s Office deputy were dispatched to a single-vehicle rollover crash around Crystal Creek Road and Deer Creek Road.

The trooper arrived on scene and observed a black SUV upside down off the west side of the Crystal Creek Road. Law enforcement determined four individuals were in the vehicle during the crash: 37-year-old Ashley Bain, her passenger, and two children.

The deputy spoke to the passenger who was showing signs of intoxication. The passenger said Bain was driving. The trooper spoke to Bain about the crash. Bain confirmed she was the driver and claimed she swerved to miss a deer.

During the conversation, the trooper noticed Bain had red, bloodshot, and watery eyes. The trooper further noted the odor of alcohol coming from Bain’s person. According to court documents, Bain admitted to having one beer approximately five hours prior to the crash.

The trooper conducted the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests with Bain. Bain scored four out of six clues of impairment on the HGN, five out of eight clues of impairment on the Walk and Turn, and zero out of four clues of impairment on the One Leg Stand. Bain provided a breath sample, and the PBT resulted in a 0.135 BrAC. Then Bain consented to a subsequent blood test.
