Montana Affordable Housing Donations

Going into a holiday weekend, Stockman Bank sent out a press release informing us that Montana's affordable housing effort is getting a boost.

Here in Missoula affordable housing is a hot topic with rising rent prices and diminishing rental properties (or so it seems). Housing project discussions seem to be ubiquitous today in Missoula.

Almost a million dollars (920 thousand to be exact) will be shelled out to 11 different organizations across the state. The grant is awarded courtesy of the partnership between Stockmanbank and Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines.

"The grants were made possible through FHLB De Moines' Member Impact Fund," said the press release.

Stockman Bank donated upfront and the Impact Fund matched it.

The 11 groups rewarded were:

Blackfeet Housing Authority
Chippewa Cree Housing Authority
Community Action Partnership of Northwest Montana
Gallatin County Housing Authority
Great Falls Development Authority, Inc.
Habitat for Humanity Mid-Yellowstone Valley
Homeword
Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians of Montana
NeighborWorks Montana
Richland County Housing Authority
Snow Mountain Development Corporation

Each group was awarded somewhere between 80 thousand dollars and 100 thousand dollars.

CEO of Stockman Bank Bill Coffee thanked the matching contributions of FHLB Des Moines.

"We appreciate FHLB Des Moines collaborating with us to provide much needed funding to these 11 affordable housing and community development organizations."

Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines is a regional bank that serves 13 states, including Montana.
